Aliens: Visitors or Neighbors?

I was watching a television program the other night called "Ancient Aliens". The program centered on ancient archaeloogical sites from around the world, such as Ankar Wat, the Great Pyramids, Stonehenge and Machu Pichu. According to the program probably the oldest settlement in the world can be found in Armenia. It is estimated that it was a thriving settlement around 90,000 B.C. This would far out-date Stonehenge, the Great Pyramids and even the settlements of the Cradle of Civilization in the Valley of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

The architecture was amazingly complex, which it had to be to last this long. Huge stones weighing tens of tons were simply laid into place to form walls or other structures. Other than settlements there are hundreds of sites all over the world where huge monoliths have been erected for reasons only known to the builders. Tens of thousands of years ago people were able to construct these structures and monuments, without any modern technology, including the wheel. Today's engineers and architects cannot figure out how it was done. Even using today's technology we cannot duplicate the work of the ancient Egyptians, Incas, Mayans and other ancient civilizations. So how was it done?

If these ancient peoples built these structures, where are the tools they used and why was the technology completely lost? What happened to civilization between the times of the ancients and modern times? Why was it all lost? There were many authors and scientists on this program commenting on the possibility that Aliens from another world came to assist people of these ancient civilizations. They offered some archaeological evidence of stone carvings and other artwork depicting what could very well be beings from outer space. One of my favorite books was "Chariot of the Gods" which sparked my interest in antiquity and the possibility of alien influence. I am not saying that aliens actually did help built these structures, but it is an interesting explanation for their existence.

After the program I thought quite a while about this possibility. Then I began to have a lot of questions. If aliens did help build these ancient structure thousands of years ago, they must have stayed on earth for quite some time.So why did they leave? In relatively modern history we have no mention or thoughts of aliens assisting us. The castles of Europe were built by locals and the Great Wall of China was built by Chinese. Why didn't aliens come back to help? Also why did aliens come to earth to work thousands of years ago, but in recent history they only come to visit in a brief appearance as UFO's? Maybe the reason is that they never left! Maybe they're still here living right next door to us. We have all said at one time or another that there are a lot of weird or strange people in the world! Something to think about.
